Angle Outpost also advises the use of a good road atlas when planning your trip
1.) In each of the cabins we provide: linens, bedding, dishes, pots and pans, towels, dish cloths, salt and pepper, and dish soap. There are full bathrooms with hot showers, however there is a limited towel service (one towel per person), so if you feel that you need more towels please bring them with you. All of our modern cabins have: complete kitchens fully equipped for cooking, there are stoves, microwaves, toasters, Mr. Coffee machines with filters provided, and charcoal grills.
2.) Check in time is anytime after 2:00 pm, and check out time is before 10:00 a.m. We need this time to prepare your cabin properly. Your cooperation in appreciated in this matter. Our goal is to make your trip as enjoyable as possible.
3.) The Northwest Angle is located at the northern most point in the continental United States, so therefore you must cross the border into Manitoba Canada for a short time before returning to the U.S. This means that there are certain Canadian restrictions that you must follow: Alcohol is limited to one case of beer, or one 40 ounce bottle of liquor, and one carton of cigarettes per person, and no handguns. For 2006 a Birth Certificate and Drivers License is suggested. A health certificate or vaccination record for pets is also recommended. Please inquire about our pet policy!
*** It is important to note that if you admit to having a DWI conviction placed on your driving record you will not be allowed to enter Canada! If the conviction is over ten years - you can now enter Canada (Forgiven). If you are refused entry at the border CALL US IMMEDIATELY (1-800-441-4051) and we will help arrange alternative travel. You may boat in from Warroad.
4.) Our area now has Customs video telephones. This technology enables you to clear customs, get a number, and then you are cleared to fish Canadian waters, without charge. This eliminates the need to purchase a Remote Area Border Crossing Permit. That way if you would like to go into Canada for the day you don't have to hassle with paperwork or a fee.
However, if you are going to be in Canada on a daily, or extended basis the RABCP is still the best plan. Please call us to get the application for this pass OR Download the CANPASS - Remote Area Border Crossing (RABC) Permit PDF application here
5.) Our store carries some groceries- staples: bread, milk, eggs, butter, canned goods, charcoal, soda, candy, ice cream etc... There are no shopping centers in the area, so please stop before you cross the border and do your shopping in either Warroad, or Roseau. We also sell gasoline both regular and mixed for boats and snowmobiles. We also sell oil and bait.
6.) Bait: we sell crawlers, leaches, and minnows in our bait shop. Along with low cost spinners, bottom bouncers, fishing licenses, and other related items. Please do not transport live bait across the border because it will be confiscated. You are only allowed to bring night crawlers packed in worm bedding material. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
7.) The evening before you depart we would like to settle up your cabin bill and charges made during your stay, this avoids any last minute rush at checkout. We accept Cash, Checks, Travelers Checks, Effective immediately for 2006 we accept All Credit Cards with a 3% Transaction Handling fee. (No Fee on Deposits).
8.) If you intend to fish in Canadian waters, you can buy you Canadian fishing license in one of two places; first there is a Shell Gas Station in the town of Sprague Manitoba, you have to go past it when driving through our area, or secondly, you can purchase a license at one of the local Canadian island resorts nearby. We can show you on the map when you arrive where they are in relation to us.
9.) With all of this information, you will be able to properly prepare for your vacation, and look forward to a worry free, relaxing holiday at our beautiful island area of Lake of the Woods. We look forward to seeing you.
