The Northwest Angle is located on the northernmost point in the continental United States. You must therefore cross the border into Canada and then back into the U.S. when driving up to Angle Outpost. U.S. fishing licenses can be purchased in our lodge. If you plan to fish Canadian waters, we recommend stopping at the Shell gas station in Sprague, Manitoba on your way to purchase your Canadian fishing license. You can also purchase your Canadian license online at: mnr.gov.on.ca
To ensure a hassle-free border entry, please note the following:
1) Each traveler is required to have a current passport.
2) Travelers with a DWI/DUI conviction on their record within the past ten years will be refused entry into Canada. If you would like us to help arrange alternative boat, snowmobile, or bombardier transportation on Lake of the Woods (international waters), please contact us.
3) For travelers passing through Canada to the Angle, there is no limit placed on the amount of alcohol or tobacco they possess, as long as they declare it properly.
4) Handguns are prohibited.
5) The Warroad port is open 24 hours. The Roseau border is open daily from 8 AM to midnight.
6) If you have a Remote Area Border Crossing (RABC) permit, you can report your re-entry into the United States with U.S. Customs and Border Protection by calling 1(888)CAN-PASS from your cell phone. If you do not have an RABC, you must stop at Jim’s Corner (on the intersection of Hwy 525 and Angle Rd NW/ County Road 330) to report your arrival. Signs are posted along the road to inform you of the proper procedure and location of the call-in station.
7) A good road atlas is recommended for making your travel plans.
